My research focuses on understanding the community dynamic and connectivity in the tropical coastal ecosystem, such as reefs, mangroves, and seagrass, and all interactions that support or erode their diversity and resilience. I am also interested in the effect of local scale stressors, such as sediment plumes, plastic pollution, trampling, etc., and global scale stressors, such as rising temperature, and increasing precipitation intensity, on community dynamics and ecosystem functioning. I work closely with multiple stakeholders to apply ecological research to management. Currently, I am working on environmental DNA, initiation of LTER, and socio-ecological analysis for the development of Marine Protected Areas in Indonesia.
