Carlos is a microbiologist who conducts research on Delftia acidovorans, an intriguing ubiquitous microbe. He develops molecular biotechnology courses and educational resources. Carlos studies how learners use educational technologies to learn about ethical reasoning, bioinformatics, and open science. He is the senior editor the Curriculum section of the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education (JMBE) and a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) active with the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators (ASMCUE). He enjoys teaching about outbreaks using case studies and student-created resources.
