Nick is an ecosystem ecologist, with a focus on aquatic ecosystems. His lab researches the biogeochemistry, hydrology, and function of the Southeastern Coastal Plain, including isolated wetlands, rivers, and reservoirs, and the interaction of these ecosystems with biodiversity of the region. Previous research related to the OCELOTS program at La Selva Biological Station has quantified the fluxes and effects of inorganic carbon cycling in headwater streams.
